DoD Solution is a defence technology company building embedded AI and onboard computing platforms for unmanned systems operating in contested environments. We develop hardware and software that enable drones and robotic systems to navigate, perceive, and act when GPS is unavailable and electronic warfare is present.

About the Project

We are developing next-generation autonomy systems used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Your work will directly impact national defense capabilities and reshape the future of autonomous aerial warfare.

The drone autonomy systems we are building turn math, algorithms, and simulation insights into guidance and decision-making logic for autonomous flight. The problems are ambiguous, physically constrained, and technically demanding.

Responsibilities

  • Design and improve guidance and decision-making logic for autonomous drone behavior.
  • Build mathematical models for motion, constraints, uncertainty, and real-world behavior.
  • Generate ideas and hypotheses, then design experiments to validate or reject them.
  • Analyze simulation results to explain why candidate algorithms succeed or fail.
  • Collect and analyze telemetry from real flights to understand system behavior outside simulation.
  • Turn simulation and real-flight findings into hardened, deterministic autonomy logic that operates reliably under real-world constraints (e.g., GPS-denied environments, EW jamming).
  • Communicate assumptions, tradeoffs, and findings clearly to the rest of the team.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical and algorithmic thinking.
  • Ability to understand problems deeply instead of relying only on recipes.
  • Comfort with ambiguous problems where the right answer is not obvious at the start.
  • Careful analysis, clear communication, and willingness to challenge weak assumptions.
  • High ownership: the ability to take a hard problem, structure it, test ideas, and keep moving.
  • Advanced agentic coding skills: the ability to use AI coding agents effectively to move fast while maintaining technical judgment and code quality.
  • Fast learning and curiosity about autonomy, control, simulation, and physical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in applied math, algorithms, optimization, estimation, control, or related areas.
  • Experience working with simulation-driven development or analysis.
  • Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, drones, or other physical systems.
  • Experience using C++ or Python for algorithmic, simulation, or autonomy-related work.
  • Experience with ROS 2, Gazebo, ArduPilot, or SITL workflows.
  • Ability to connect theoretical models with practical engineering constraints.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing algorithms for low-power, edge-compute hardware.
  • Prior drone experience is useful, but not required.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to shape a mission-critical defense technology from the ground up
  • A fast-paced result-oriented culture where decisions are driven by data and results
  • Competitive compensation
  • Access to state-of-the-art testing facilities, hardware, and simulation platforms
  • Direct impact on Ukraine’s national security and technological edge
